Rihanna Goes Black !

Rihanna's practically done it all from long to curly to short to red to blonde and now to black. I must say out of all the young black and fabolous female celebs in terms of hairstyles I dont think anyone has taken more of a risk than rihanna and i love it. I personally like this new look what do you guys think?

U Part Wig

Soooo I must say I’m extremely proud and have to pat myself on the back for this one.  I finally got over my fears and decided to create my first U part-3/4th wig.  Some of you may be wondering what I’m talking about so here is a link to describe what a U part wig is. These wigs are definitely the new craze and are reducing the need to have sew ins done. If your anything like me, I just cannot keep a sew in for more than a week.  I don’t know if it just my scalp but it itches the heck out of me and can be pretty unbearable. Due to this I wanted to find another alternative and I stumbled across these wigs.  Now I must say making this wig was very time consuming and tedious but worth it in the end.  It took me about 6 hours to complete but I’m sure that was because it was my very first time.
I installed 3 packs of hair to make this wig because I really wanted it to be full and have a lot of volume.  I used 2 packs of the 1B Onxy weave and 1 full pack of the Outre Duvessa Remy hair in the colour 2.  I purchased the hair at my local Beauty Supply outlet.
Here are some pictures of my final product:
If you want some more detailed info on these U part-3/4th wigs, youtube has a ton of tutorials and different methods on how to create these wigs.  I plan on making another wig and I’ll be sure to make a How to blog on that.

Body Art

I have always loved tattoos and piercing ever since I was able to actually get them.  I use to sit and watch shows such as LA and Miami Ink and admire their ability to portray somebody’s vision in the form of artwork.  For me, I find that tattoos provide a sense of personality and originality.  When it comes to my piercings I don’t usually get them for any particular reason other than I enjoy poking holes in my skin and its pretty addicting. My current tattoo count is 3 and I have 6 piercings.  With my spontaneity I’m sure I’ll have another tattoo and piercing by the end of the summer.

My Tattoos
This first tattoo means a lot to me because I decided to get it right after I lost 40lbs.  Each butterfly represents the change and growth that I endured during my weight loss journey.  This amazing tattoo was done at Pleasure and Pain in Mississauga, Ontario where the tattoo artist whipped up the drawing in no time. The tattoo took around 2 hours to complete and was extremely painful, mostly because of my decision to have it tattooed on my foot.

So my second and third tattoos come together as “Love Life”.  I’ve always loved that saying and wanted it tattooed as a daily reminder. In my profession it showed me that we shouldn’t take life for granted and love every moment of it because it’s truly a gift and doesn't last forever.  This tattoo was done by a good friend who I went to middle school with.  He did an amazing job and charged me an even better price ;D.  In terms of time, it took about 30minutes for both wrist and actually didn't hurt at all.

My piercings
I currently have both lobes on each ear, cartilage on my right, tragus on my left, and tongue pierced. I had my belly button done but it wasn’t pierced far back enough so my body ended up rejecting it and I eventually had to take it out.  I do plan on getting it re pierced at another piercing shop before the beginning of summer.  In terms of pain I would have to say my cartilage had to have hurt the most while the tragus and lobes hurt the least.  After I get my belly button pierced I think that will be it for me and piercings.

Holding It Together With Eco Styler Gel

So as yall can tell we have completely skipped over winter/fall and have now landed straight into summer.  These are the days when its going to start to become difficult to tame our unruly hairdos.  Well ladies, I have a solution that has almost always worked for me and that is the Argan Oil hair Gel by Eco Styler.  Now I know that a lot of people frown upon the use of gel because it can damage and dry out your hair.  Well the good thing about this gel is it is alcohol free and doesn’t leave your hair feeling flaky or itchy.   The hold on the gel is superb at a max hold of 10 but it doesn’t leave your hair rock hard.  With this gel it leaves your hair super soft with a beautiful, healthy, shine, much like a fresh relaxer. It is also very easy to comb out and wash when you are ready to change your hair style. I love this gel so much that I got the large bucket for only $8.99 in the US because I knew it would be my best friend during the hot summer days.  It’s just so convenient and good to use when I want to put my hair up in a nice, sleek, updo or bun.  This gel can be purchased at any beauty supply store in your city for no more than $5.00 for the smaller bottle.

Feathers and Ear Bling

We all know that accessories can be a nice add on to any look.  To be honest I find that they are much like the icing on a cake and really top off any outfit.  Last weekend I ended up finding some unique pieces that I wanted to share with you guys.  I love the different variations of colours and styles especially with the new feather trend.  These earrings will definitely catch your eyes and keep you wanting more.  I purchased them all at Vaughan Mills mall from two separate stores for ridiculously amazing and very affordable prices.
Check em out and let me know what you think

These earrings were 3 for $10 in Sirens

These 4 earrings ranged from $5 to $8 in Urban Behaviour.  They had a lot of different earings in so many funky colours

Brazil Butt-Lift Work Out

In 5 days it will officially be spring! What better time to prepare for your summer body then right now. With that said I have recently purchased a workout program called the Brazil Butt-Lift by beach body. I have heard nothing but great things about this workout program so I'm excited to finally be able to do it.Now the program is for a month and although it does help shed pounds the main focus of the program is to shape the perfect butt and define the abs. This program was perfect for me since my fitness goals are not to lose any weight but to simply sculpt and tone. Leandro Carvalho the man who created this program is also trainer to supermodel Alessandro Ambrosio. Here's a taste of what to expect.

I've watched all three dvd's just to prepare myself for what I would be doing and one thing I like I must say is the dvd's seem like alot of fun as opposed to a stressful workout. He has definitely brought that latin flavor!

A World Full of Colour

There is no doubt that there is an increase in colour this spring and summer.  It doesn’t matter what store you go in, you absolutely cannot avoid it. In addition to colour, another pretty/ feminine look that is popular this year is sheer.  It can add a nice flow and sophistication to any casual look.  It is also optimal because during the warmer days it allows you to look beautiful, yet feel comfortable all at the same time.  This is a style I know that I can get use to and have already started to purchase a number of these tops in EVERY colour.
So move over black and white, coloured clothing is back in full effect.

*The top pink blouse was purchased at Urban planet. Price: Between $10-$20
*Light pink and royal blue blouses were purchased on Queen and Spadina at a little boutique. Price: $11 each.

Stunner Shades

Let’s face it; you can never have enough shades for the summer months.  On my recent shopping adventure to Queen and Spadina, where they have a few little vintage shops, I was able to pick up 3 really cute shades.  They ranged from anywhere between $5 to $10 each. I was able to get a larger and a very different variety then those in mainstream stores.  Go check out the Black Market located in Downtown Toronto and you’ll be surprised at what you may find! You can also visit their website at http://www.blackmarkettoronto.com/home/home.php to find out more information.

Sassy Spring Lipsticks

Let me start out by giving credit where credit’s due.  Silentchic, one of the pages I’m subscribed to on youtube, recently uploaded a video haul on these Wet and Wild lipsticks.  I must encourage you guys to check out her channel because she has a number of amazing makeup tutorials, fashion hauls/ reviews and much, much, more.

…back to the lipsticks. Soooo, I went to my local Walmart to see what these new shades were all about.  I ended up picking 3 very different yet beautiful lipsticks.  I purchased the 965 Cherry Picking and 969 24 Carrot Gold (two new shades), as well as the 916D (one of the older shades).  Not only did these colours really catch my eye but the price did too (only 3.49 each!). These lipsticks are extremely affordable and even more long lasting so I would have to give them two thumbs up.  I’m pretty sure I’m going to be making theses lipsticks my go to spring and summer lip colours.

Out of the 3 colours, I am absolutely, head over heels in love with this lipstick.  After I applied it to my lips I was literally left speechless. This lipstick would look stunning on any skin tone but it really complements my skin very well.  I’m sure I’ll be paying another visit to Walmart for some more Cherry Picking because I CAN’T GET ENOUGH.

Now I must say this is my very first orange lipstick.  Out of the 3, I feel like I’m a little intimidated by this one the most.  Don’t get me wrong, I think the colour is gorgeous but it’s a bit bright and much more out there then I’m use to.  I’m probably going to post up another blog when I actually wear this colour in a makeup look.   It’s time for me to step outside the box I guess.

This purple lipstick is actually one of my first. Unlike the 969, which is definitely a statement, I feel like this colour is a lot more wearable.   I envision a nice, sultry, cat eye paired with this lipstick which would undoubtedly create an intriguing look.  I’ll keep you guys posted on how I feel about all 3 lipsticks along with some makeup looks.

Mac Pro-Longwear Lipglass

I recently decided to quit the whole clear lipgloss thing and decided to add some colour into my life. Over the weekend I paid a visit to mac hoping to find a colour that was not too over the top and something I could wear on a day to day basis. I fell in love with their pro longwear lipglass and chose a really nice plum colour. Over all I must say I love this lipglass I do find myself reapplying every 3-4 hours but it is worth it. I plan to try other colours from this collection but for now i think im sticking with this one called last achievement. I purchased this lipglass for 19.50 pricey but worth every penny!

My Weight Loss Journey

About a year ago I told myself that enough is enough and I was going to implement major changes in my life. The most drastic change was my decision to lose weight.  I have currently lost a total of 50lbs and have reached my goal that I’ve set for myself.  This transition was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in my life but I knew it had to be done.
To be honest, I never even looked at myself in the mirror.  I obviously knew I had gained a lot from grade 11 up until the end of college but I never wanted to acknowledge it.  I would often avoid the subject or laugh it off like it didn’t bother me because I was uncomfortable.  In all actuality, it really upset me that I had let myself get to that point and I HAD HAD ENOUGH!

In February of 2011 I took out a pen and paper and decided to write down all of my feelings.   I then created a plan of what I needed to do in order to love myself again.  When that was all said and done I realized that I needed to love myself for who I was at that time in order to get anywhere on this journey. A year later, I can say that that’s what turned me around and got me motivated to become more physically active and eat healthy.  I wanted to share my journey with y’all because I know how hard it is to lose weight and not know where to start.  I’m going to give people tips and tricks that worked for me and may end up benefiting you.
Here is how I achieved my goals:
·         I wrote EVERYTHING down.  From my weight to inches, what I ate and my goals.  This helped me be accountable.
·         Started to love myself for who and what I was.  Accepted and loved my body while acknowledging that it needed change.
·         Cut all liquids out of my diet (except H2O).  I tried to drink at least 2-3 liters a day. I did drink alcohol L but only occasionally. Moderation is KEY!
·         Stopped eating fast food all together.  I would make my lunch the day before and bring it to work. It ended up saving me a ton of money.
·         Wouldn’t eat after 8.  Everyone is different but because I go to bed pretty early, 8pm was a good time for me to stop eating.
·         I reduced the amount of sugar and sweets from my diet.  If you know me, you'd know that I have the biggest sweet tooth ever so I started reading my labels and instead of eating a full bag of M&M's, I ate a few and left the rest for another day.
·         I worked out 5-6 days a week.  I would go to the gym or do one my many work out dvd’s that I have collected over the past year.
·         Did things I never thought I would ever do/pushed myself to the limit

These are the things that I found worked well for me.  Now that I’ve reached my goal, I’ve set new ones.  I no longer look at working out or eating healthy as a chore, it has honestly become a part of my life.   I’ve realized that the only way you’re going to get what you want is if you work hard for it.  All it takes is that little click in your brain to realize that you really want it and more importantly,YOU'RE WORTH IT.

 Everyday, I smile…

Aveeno fresh face!

Now as important as making sure your hair is on point you also want to make sure your skin is too. I have tried many different skin care products in an attempt to find something that I loved enough to stick to and I've found it! I am fortunate enough to not have acne prone skin or anything of that sort however my skin especially around my nose and chin area are extremely dry. The reason I decided to try aveeno in the first place was based on the fact that it has all natural ingredients which I loved. They have different facial care products based on your skin type and what you are looking for. I got the skin brightening daily scrub which is a gentle scrub that exfoliates the skin leaving it clean and soft. I also got the positively radiant toner that leaves the skin feeling refreshed. I use the moisturizer only before bed or if i am not leaving the house because i find it  leaves a sort of whitish-purplish tint to my skin a little but come morning time it's no longer there and my skin is left soft. I purchased them at wal-mart, the moisturizer was about 25$ which is more expensive than the toner and scrub together which was about 16$. To see what other products are available check out their website www.aveeno.ca.

Collura A.K.A. My Super,Sexy, Heels

Hot damn! These heels right here are so SUPER sexy. Now I’m already a tall girl and I don’t tend to buy four inch heels but I couldn’t resist these shoes. You can find them at any Spring shoes in the black nubuck material from size 6 to size 9. The best part about this is the fact that they’re on sale. Yes I said it, SALE! They were originally $70.00 plus tax but I got them for half the price at $34.99. The one thing I must say about them is they are actually pretty comfortable. They aren’t the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn but they aren’t that bad. I find that when I purchase shoes from Spring they seem to be a lot more comfortable than those purchased from Aldo.
All in all I just can’t wait to rock these shoes at the next big party!
Check them out at the Spring website (http://www.myspringshoes.com/ca-eng) and who knows maybe you’ll find some SUPER, sexy, heels that you'll love.

You're 'So Vain'

This beautifully vibrant, bright, pink ‘Kissable Lipcolour’ is a great addition to anyone’s makeup collection. I find that this gloss could either be applied lightly or even paired with another lip colour and look absolutely amazing. Its smooth application allows it to glide on nicely, leaving you with a creamy lipstick feel. I don’t find that it is long lasting but it only requires a minimal amount of touch ups throughout the night. I personally wouldn’t wear this lip gloss every day because it’s a bit too bright but it does provide a wonderful little pop of colour to any look. This gloss works well with a nice nude eye with a light pink blush by giving the look a little something more. In terms of price, I purchased this gloss in a Mac store from their new Shop Mac collection. The gloss came up to approximately $22.00 after tax and was worth every penny.

The one thing I found very disappointing is the fact that the gloss is a limited edition and eventually will be discontinued. *sad face*. After finding this out, I definitely need to make sure that I get my hands on another one and maybe even try a different colour before they’re all gone! If you’re interested in finding out more about this product you can visit any Mac counter or their website www.maccosmetics.com.

Come on and Get Naked

I am so very excited to finally be able to review these two palettes. Urban Decay has done it again with the second version to their most sought after ‘Naked Palette’. If you are looking to purchase a neutral palette with a mixture of matte and shimmery shadows, then these colors definitely will appeal to you. These two palettes come with twelve different shadows containing a number of browns, gold’s, silvers and blacks that work well on any skin tone. These shadows are extremely pigmented and once applied, last well throughout the day or night. They are without a doubt my go to shadows for literally EVERYTHING.
The only downsides to these palettes are the prices and that owning both palettes isn’t all that necessary. I was given the first ‘Naked palette’ as a gift for my birthday a year ago and it retailed at about $60 in store. The second palette I purchased at a Sephora store for the same price. These palettes are a bit pricey but worth it  considering it comes with 12 really pigmented shades. You can achieve a number of different looks with either palette.
So how do I feel about these palettes? Well, I guess you can say I’m absolutely in love with them both and I give them both 2 thumbs up. So what are you waiting for! Go get naked.

* If you are interested in purchasing any of these palettes you can defiantly try any Sephora store/ website (www.sephora.com), Urban Decay website (www.urbandecay.com) or you’re local Shoppers Drug Mart.
